Ladies as Project Managers – let’s shout about it!

There is this theory going round that women are fantastic at multi-tasking – although my husband would disagree slightly, in that when I am talking I cannot do anything else! However, unlike him, when I am busy doing lots of things I am also able to LISTEN!!

The scientists say it is because our brains are wired differently – we have lots of different areas which are connected together – apparently. This means that we can be firing all sorts of different notions around our brains all at the same time.

So why would a woman make the perfect project manager?

Consider this – the perfect project manager needs to be able to:

  1. Listen,
  2. Be supportive of their team,
  3. Be attentive of their customers, suppliers and senior managers,
  4. Be aware of all that is happening around them,
  5. Be concerned with the consequences of their and other people’s actions,
  6. Be concerned with the consequences of stuff happening in the world around them,
  7. Be prepared to ask for help or advice,
  8. Be prepared to take help or advice,
  9. Be prepared to voice concerns and offer alternative approaches,
  10. Be organised or be aware they are not organised and delegate.

Does this sound like anyone you know?

There are only two drawbacks which I can see in women as project managers:

  1. We try to do too much ourselves,
  2. We lack the ability to blow our own trumpets.

So ladies, all we have to do to be the perfect project managers is to do less work and shout louder about how great we are.

So go on, put your feet up and SHOUT!
