APM and the Art of Laziness

APM (The Association for Project Management) are all about encouraging and supporting the application of professional project management nationally and internationally. Sometimes that can seem quite overwhelming for people new to the world of project management.

However the Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire Branch ran an event last night which was a perfect reminder that APM is there for all project managers – old and new, smart and not smart, diligent and lazy…

Peter Taylor, otherwise known as The Lazy Project Manager, entertained us beautifully at Leeds Met with an amusing reminder of how simple it can be the get projects right if only we would learn the “art of laziness”.

With a fantastic juxtaposition of references to Monty Python, Prussian Generals and classical philosophers, Peter took us on a totally common sense based journey from the start, through the middle, to the end of successful project delivery.

Or as he put it from the thick start, via the thin middle to the thick end… remembering above all to “breathe normally”.

As a trainer who has spent years banging on about keeping things simple it was great to have this view endorsed by Peter, and in such style.
